Integrated Landscape Management

There is a high demand to operate in northeast Alberta, where many resources are available. As a result, companies from various sectors have plans to change the area and start operations. To minimize the environmental impact on our Forest Management Agreement (FMA) area, we apply Integrated Landscape Management (ILM). ILM is a strategy that sets out the terms for land use and natural resources.

We work with numerous land users to develop plans that achieve the user’s goal while evaluating environmental risks and conservation strategies. Our collective efforts focus on finding solutions that protect forest resources and benefit Alberta’s economy.

Benefits of ILM

  • Reduces environmental disturbances and impacts on the landscape
  • Coordinates operational activities
  • Utilizes resources
  • Minimizes effects on forest ecosystems, biodiversity and wildlife habitat
  • Increases environmental research
  • Advances existing environmental standards
