Sustainability

5.9 million

hectares of Forest Stewardship Council certified forest.

43,172,097

tree seedlings planted since 1994.

0.1%

or less of our forest, is harvested each year.

96.5%

of the water used is returned to the Athabasca River.

We responsibly manage 6.4 million hectares of Alberta’s forests, use forest biomass to efficiently power our mill site and ensure water used in our processes is treated and safely returned to the Athabasca River.

Maintaining environmentally friendly operations involves increasing our understanding of the boreal forest, acknowledging wildlife and habitats, providing renewable resources to consumers, giving back to nature and working with the forest’s natural patterns.

Sustainability is about doing our part to increase our working forests’ lifespan and provide responsibly sourced products for years to come. As the demand for sustainable products is growing worldwide, we continue to find new and innovative ways to deliver, just like we’ve done since opening in 1993.
