Role Responsibilities:
- Improvement/Innovation: Identify improvements in existing processes, systems and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
- Operating Machines and Equipment: Operate complex equipment and machines, adjusting diverse variables to achieve the best possible outcomes in terms of quality and productivity.
- Monitor and Inspect: Monitor plant equipment, computer terminals, switches, valves, gauges, alarms, meters and other instruments, to measure temperature, pressure and flow, detect leaks or other equipment malfunctions, and make sure equipment is operating at maximum efficiency.
- Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Carry out standard maintenance and repair activities. Troubleshoot technical or operational problems by applying previously defined solutions.
Role Requirements:
- 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate.
- Experience working within a pulp mill and/or an industrial plant will be considered an asset.
- Kraft pulp mill experience is a strong preference
- Knowledge of federal and provincial environmental regulations considered an asset.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license (GDL removed) with a clean driving record.
- Makes sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.

The successful candidate will report to the Health, Safety and Security team lead and will be responsible for providing medical and technical support to the organization. This position will respond to emergencies, lead/participate in investigations, conduct various testing, provide safety orientation and conduct security duties for team members and contractors.

- Health & Safety Compliance: Interact daily with team members and contractors to ensure compliance. Participate in Emergency Response as a shift leader on the mill emergency response team. Monitor fire systems and perform first aid care as needed.
- Investigation & Inspection: Lead and participate in incident / accident investigations. Provide expertise on hazard recognition and assist/coach others with performing field level hazard assessments.
- Testing: Administer pre-employment drug screen testing and post-incident and drug and alcohol testing. Conduct routine medical assessment. Assist with occupational hygiene compliance testing within the mill, including but not limited to gas detection, mask fit testing and hazard assessments.
- Technical Advice & Training: Provide technical and developmental training to team members and contractors on a variety of safety topics.
- Security: Participate in activities to ensure the physical security of the mill site.
Role Requirements:
- Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP), Primary Care Paramedic (PCP), or Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) licensed with the Alberta College of Paramedics.
- Candidates with current Advanced First Aid (AFA) certificate or a Registered Nurse (RN) with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta may also be considered.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Strong computer skills.
- Considered an asset:
- Firefighting experience.
- Technical Rescue experience.
- Hazardous Materials experience.
- Security experience.
- Experience working in an industrial setting.
Other:
- This is a 28-day rotation.

Pressure Equipment Integrity Inspector

The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying and enhancing the safety of pressure equipment and ensuring all requirements of Al-Pac’s Quality Management system and the Alberta Safety Codes Act are met. Reporting to the Chief Inspector, this position develops and implements inspection plans, monitors equipment for integrity, and maintains inspection records.

Role Responsibilities
- Monitoring & Inspection:
- Develop and implement long term preventative and predictive inspection plans for pressure equipment, piping systems and storage tanks.
- Perform in-service inspection, including corrosion monitoring of equipment and piping and executing NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) to confirm integrity of equipment repairs, modification and new construction.
- Prepare NDE scope of work, co-ordinate and supervise inspection service contractors to meet the plant’s quality requirements.
- Prepare and maintain inspection records and procedures in accordance with the inspection program.
- Compliance:
- Ensure all requirements of Alberta Pacific’s Quality Management system and the Alberta Safety Codes Act are met.
- Responsible for ensuring that all fabrication, erection and construction activities within the plant and at vendor shops meet engineering specifications, regulatory, industry codes and other relevant industrial standards.
- Work closely with the Area and Project Engineers as well as Maintenance and Operations team to maintain plan regulatory compliance, effective execution of shutdown, turnarounds and production targets.
- Technical Resource & Support:
- Act as technical resource to Area Engineers on codes and standards and provide effective inspection services for the entire site.
- Troubleshoot and problem solves technical issues. Provide relevant risk management information.
Role Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the design, fabrication or examination of industrial piping or pressure vessels.
- Asset Qualifications:
- CWB Welding Inspector Certification.
- API 570 and API 510 inspection certificates.
- ABSA In-Service Pressure Vessel & Pressure Piping Inspector Certification.
- API 653 Tank Inspection Certification.
- National Board Certification.
- Technical understanding of pipe fabrication, specifications and codes of construction.
- Knowledge of plant processes.
- Understanding of the ASME Codes and the Alberta Safety Codes Act.
- Good communication skills (oral and written).
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

- Liaises closely with others involved in different aspects for the systems including instrumentation, electrical, shift E/I, technical, engineering, production, and external IT suppliers.
- Create written procedures for common tasks such as downloading transmitters, forcing I/0 etc., to support E/I mill wide.
- Administration of Process Control System/Network (e.g. System Backups, User Access, Network Switch Configuration, Network layout; design, and maintenance, System Maintenance; Patch and Virus administration, etc.).
Role Requirements:
- Instrument Technologist with a Journeyman Instrument ticket OR a registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) with controls experience.
- 3-5 years previous Process Controls System experience or equivalent training.
- Journeyman Electrical ticket considered an asset.
- Must hold valid Driver’s license (GDL removed with acceptable driving history).
- Experience working within a Pulp Mill and/or Industrial plant is considered an asset.
- Experience reading and interpreting technical specifications, functional specifications and schematics.
- Controls design and implementation (Honeywell Experion preferred).
- Knowledge and skill set pertaining to Process Control Networks: Best Practices, Infrastructure, and Security will be considered a strong asset.
- Self-motivated and self-directed.
- Strong Computer and troubleshooting skills.
- Plans and prioritizes work to meet commitments.
- Must be able to obtain a valid passport, and able to travel for training and other position specific requirements.

Role Responsibilities
Internal audit financial or operational reviews/audit responsibilities include:
- Providing independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve the company operations.

- Interacting with senior management and discussing findings and recommendations from reviews/audits.
- Maintaining the credibility of the Internal Audit function by performing work in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Professional Standards.
- Building positive working relationships with stakeholders.
J-SOX internal controls responsibilities include:
- Reviewing company level controls, financial close and reporting process controls, process level controls, IT application controls and IT General controls.
- Evaluating design effectiveness and process-level internal controls – conducting risk assessments and identifying controls in place to mitigate identified risk.
- Maintaining updated documentation including risk control matrices / procedural write-ups (narratives) / flowcharts / checklists.
- Controls testing, identifying control gaps and recommending remediation for deficiencies.
- Researching new or technical subjects when required to support the internal controls work.
Role Requirements
- Recognized accounting designation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of 3 – 5+ years’ progressive experience in public accounting.
- Knowledge & understanding of best practices in auditing & internal controls.
- Strong Internal Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) knowledge.
- Experience in a highly computerized manufacturing environment.
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)/Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation would be an asset.

- Recruitment - Source, attract, interview, and filter candidates for outstanding shutdown positions. Ensure that all positions are filled in time for shutdown to commence.
Role Requirements:
- High School Diploma, HR qualifications considered an asset.
- 1-3 years’ Administration experience, ideally in HR and/or Payroll is an asset.
- Effective communication skills.
- Self-motivated individual who works well in a team environment.
- Intermediate level use of MS Excel is essential.
- Strong organization, prioritization and time management skills.

Role Requirements:
• 3-5 years progressive professional experience in stakeholder or community engagement, preferably in the forest or resource development sectors
