Training

Alberta-Pacific is one of the most advanced pulp mills in the world. We utilize some of the best technology available and have a strong force of highly-trained team members that are the backbone of our success.

To continue to stay on the leading edge, Alberta-Pacific invests in training and development to ensure our team members have the skills and knowledge to perform their jobs at a high level. On average, we allocate about $2,500 per team member annually for training. Team members not only apply these new skills to their job, but also coach and mentor other team members and transfer their knowledge to others wherever possible.

In addition, we have developed strong partnerships with some of the leading post-secondary institutions in the province including the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and Portage College. We work with these institutions to provide practicum placements for students in the Power Engineering, Accounting, and Administrative support programs, as well as students who are enrolled in Co-op programs.

We also have a strong relationship with Careers: The Next Generation, and place high school students each year in the Power Engineering Program (PEP) and in the Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) for Electrician, Millwright, Machinist, Welder, Steamfitter/Pipefitter, and Heavy Equipment Technician.

The company has developed a unique series of classes focused on developing interpersonal skills to complement our team system. There is also a leadership development program in place which focuses on building and enhancing leadership skills for different levels of the organization.
