Our company is committed to ensuring our operation meets or exceeds all environmental standards. Protecting the environment is more than a responsibility, it is an integral part of the way we conduct business.
We are proud of our environmental record and continue to look for new and efficient ways to improve performance. Our millsite operations carry three International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certifications which keep us on pace with pulp quality, environmental performance and water quality standards set around the world.
Alberta-Pacific strives to divert material from our landfill site by finding innovative options. Bio-solids from the wastewater treatment system are used as a green fuel in the power boiler. Ash from the boilers can be utilized for road and oil drill pad stabilization applications or for soil enhancement on agricultural land. Alberta-Pacific is committed to reducing, re-using or recycling all waste that retains some value after its prime purpose by maintaining its on-site recycling program.
Alberta-Pacific's most recent initiatives include a power expansion project and a bio-methanol project. Alberta-Pacific installed a new transmission line, substation, steam condensing turbine and generator to enable greater export of renewable energy to the regional power grid. The bio-methanol plant is the first of its kind in the world, and as such, Alberta-Pacific continues to work towards producing a bio-methanol product from one of our mill process waste streams.
